What is Shiatsu
Touch is the language of the body. So simple, so human.

The Shiatsu method of palpitation and gentle stretching is commonly a relaxing and soothing hands-on body work.
But it is not a regular massage. It uses the superficial work to reach much deeper. It has the ability to affect many complex systems (musculature, neurological, hormonal, emotional etc.) resulting in better health and less suffering.
Shiatsu is one of the methods of Chinese medicine and uses its knowledge about the effect of different points and areas on distal regions of the body to cure and invigorate. Based on Chinese knowledge, it was developed in Japan where it was considered the art of the blind.
Using their sublime tactile sensation, and developed sens of listening with their body, they used their hands to cure and maintain health. That is the tradition I follow as a Shiatsu practitioner.
I work with a method named Zen-Shiatsu, it is a gentle, noninvasive form, full of respect and real listening. It is based on the understanding that all answers lay within, and that the practitioners mission only to revile and assist that process.

Shi=pressure, Atsu=finger. In Shiatsu we use finger pressure to influence Qi, but not only.

You will be surprised how effective Shiatsu can be.
